My yearly trip to Argentina brought me this year to the wine region of Mendoza. The Uco Valley is one of the better regions and I decided that after a wine tour (read here) I should spend the night there. Casa de Uco just offers you that, a perfect vineyard resort in the middle of the Uco Valley. Unfortunately my visit was just after winter time and I could not go swimming, but weather was perfect for all other activities. My experience I will share with you!
The hotel
Casa de Uco is situated in the Uco Valley with beautiful views on the Andes mountain range. It opened its doors just a year ago. The building is of minimalistic style with panoramic views over the vineyards with the white mountain tops of the Andes in the back. A long drive takes you through the vineyard to the hotel building. A warm welcome waited with a small tour of the resort. It’s difficult to describe in words but the hotel and its surroundings blend in a great way; just see the photo’s or better experience it yourself. The peaceful and quiet area really had me unwind well after a long night of party in Mendoza.
The rooms at Casa de Uco
Like the outside of the hotel the rooms have also concrete minimalistic decorations. The furniture has mainly natural colors. In front of the large panoramic window is a sitting area which offers great views. A place to dream away for a moment with a nice glass of Casa de Uco 2012 Malbec in your hand. The bathroom is modern white decorated and complete with all the amenities you would expect. The bed is large and very comfortable; I slept almost a full clock round! Sometimes hotel rooms are boring to relax but here I can guarantee you that you will be able to relax. The mini bar is complimentary and so are a few small snacks and the Nespresso coffee.
Facilities at Casa de Uco
A great way to explore the Casa de Uco Vineyard Resort and its 790 acres of land is to take one of the bikes. An even better way is to take a horse and explore the vineyards and the desert area around it. I loved the horseback riding which, like the bikes, is offered without charge.
The hotel also has an outdoor infinity pool but now just after wintertime it was too cold to use it. They have also a full service SPA with massages and other treatments, steam room and sauna. With all these facilities I had a great time of relaxation. I didn’t want to leave!
Dining & Drinking at Casa de Uco
Case de Uco offers a great dining experience in the evening. You can choose various dishes based on local ingredients. I had fried brie cheese as a started and (of course) and Argentina steak as main course. A great glass of accompanying wine made my dinner a memorable experience. After dinner there is a bar upstairs with a pool table. During the day there is a sitting area which, I think, has the best view (see first photo) of all of the resort. Just look for yourself!
Breakfast is served almost the entire morning up to 11:30 AM which is perfect if you want to relax and not stress to be in time for breakfast. It is served mainly a la carte with some pastries at the buffet. I prefer this way in a small-scale luxury resort, all is so fresh!
Conclusion
If you visit the Uco Valley I highly recommend staying for some nights at Casa de Uco Vineyards & Resort. The area is beautiful and so is the hotel itself. With top quality dining and a SPA you will enjoy and unwind like nowhere else. During the day you can also go to nearby wineries for tasting rather than driving from Mendoza. I hope you will enjoy Casa de Uco as much as I did.
