#TBT [ThrowBackThursday] week 11 of 2015, My first experience with Churrascaria; got addicted!
My first time to visit Brazil was in 2011 and it was then when I got introduced to Churrascaria. This is not for vegetarians. Churrascaria is a kind of way of eating and preparing meat, originally from the south of Brazil. Above charcoal the meat on a spear is roasted. Every part of the cow they use as you can see in the image on the right. My favorite: Picanha! The most tender and bloody meat.
5-day Minas Gerais itinerary: Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto & Diamantina
The dinner normally starts with a plate from the salad bar. From there you then move to the meat where you have a red/green badge on the table to tell the waiters to bring more meat to your table or not. All the meat is cut at your table! After you get a desert from which the roasted pineapple is my favorite.
I made a rookie mistake: I got too much from the salad bar and after did not have enough room for all the meat.
I did not know about this kind of restaurant before my visit so I made a rookie mistake: I got too much from the salad bar and after did not have enough room for all the meat. Do NOT take too much from the salad bar; fill up with the unlimited tender meat 🙂
I just love meat (sorry vegetarians!) so every time I’m in Brazil I need to go to a Churrascaria each other day 🙂 In Europe it is very hard to find this kind of restaurant or it is very expensive. I got addicted!
Bon appetit!
