My yearly Argentina trip brought me this year after Mendoza also to Cordoba. The main mission there was to see the Jesuit Quarter and the Jesuit Estancias on the countryside. When searching hotels near the Jesuit Quarter the Azur Real Hotel Boutique came up, claiming to be the first boutique hotel of Cordoba. I had to try so I decided to stay there for two nights. My experience I will share with you.
The hotel
The Azur Real Hotel is located just three blocks from the Jesuit Quarter or two from the San Martin square. It’s located on the second and higher floors of the building built in 1915 and it’s accessible by elevator or stairs. When I entered the lobby I found it very cozy and natural colors decorated and I was warmly greeted. The staff was very friendly and escorted me to my room. The rooms are located on two floors and the doors connect to a patio. On the second floor is also the place of the restaurant, breakfast area, gym and relax patio. I found everything very pleasant and they can call themselves for sure a best luxury boutique hotel.
The rooms at Azur Real Hotel
In the room you find also natural elements and colors yet giving it a modern touch. My room was on the first floor direct next to the lobby but inside the room I could not hear any other guests walking in the patio. At the entrance is a small sitting area and next to it a working desk and TV. The bed is very large and has comfortable pillows and mattress. The bathroom is narrow but deep. Also here there are natural colors in the decoration and a glass sink. The shower has a rainforest shower which I always prefer. There was no bath but myself I never use that anyway. The room further had all the other things you would expect like a safe, minibar and so on. A place I could call home for a few days for sure.
Facilities at Azur Real Hotel
The hotel has a SPA located on the lower floor which can be used privately. You need to book it in advance. It has a bath, sauna and steam room. You can relax in the relax area; take a massage or another treatment. At the top floor you find a small yet sufficient gym. The big open outdoor area at the rooftop has a Jacuzzi and around it many sunbeds to relax in warm weather. My visit was in early spring and it was still just too cold to go sunbathing. All together a lot of facilities for a boutique hotel which is a big positive.
Dining & Drinking at Azur Real Hotel
The Azur Real Hotel offers various beverages in the lobby including a wide selection of wines. Breakfast is served at the top floor in the breakfast lounge. Various dishes are served on order. The restaurant called Republica is open for dinner only Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I tried the 8 course tasting menu with accompanying wines. The quality of the dishes was outstanding and so was the taste. As for wines they have a wide selection and they all were very good. The menu is also affordable at a price of 700 pesos (65 euro) when I visited. Of course you can also order a la carte. For the days the restaurant is not open there are many options within walking distance from the hotel.
Conclusion
If you look for a central located hotel in Cordoba, Argentina then I can recommend staying at Azur Real Hotel. It’s a fine boutique hotel with many facilities. Nice decorations and a very comfortable room made my stay very pleasant. I hope to return one day to Cordoba and explore more of the area and stay at the Azur Real Hotel to try the rooftop lounge in good hot weather.
