My recent trip to Canada brought me also two nights to Toronto where I had the opportunity to check out the Intercontinental Yorkville Hotel. I share my experience with this hotel below to help you decide on your hotel choice. I’m sure you will like it!
The Intercontinental Yorkville Toronto Hotel
The hotel is located in Yorkville an upscale fashionable neighborhood in the northern part of downtown Toronto. You find here all the luxury brands and great small streets with many exclusive restaurants and bars. Just across the street is the university area which is beautiful to walk around or just sit on a bench or grass while enjoying the sunshine. The train station and the harbor downtown are just a 5-10 minute drive or short metro drive away. Depending which airport you fly into this takes you up to 30-45 minutes to get to the hotel. Valet parking is also available which I used to get my car parked – just give them a 10 minutes heads up to get it back for you. The outside of the hotel is a modern building that fits great in the street view and once you enter you directly feel that this must be a good hotel. Just look the photo below!
The rooms at Intercontinental Yorkville
I had booked a standard room and got upgraded to an executive suite, being an IHG Rewards member really helps getting upgrade. Do subscribe to enjoy the benefits of being a member. The rooms are spacious, and nicely contemporary decorated. In my suite I had a separate living area with a small kitchenette and separate restroom. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower and all the amenities you require. A perfect room to feel home for two nights and get some work done.
Facilities at Intercontinental Yorkville
On the top floor you find a nice swimming pool to do some exercise or to relax at the sunbathing terrace outside. Next to the pool there is the gym with modern machines for everyone. All is free accessible for guests. The concierge helped me great by pointing out all what I needed to see in Toronto, perfect if you have a short stay and are not really prepared!
Dining & Drinking at Intercontinental Yorkville
Unfortunately the hotel does not have a club lounge which I normally prefer to have access to as it’s very private, but I not really missed it. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is mainly a la carte only with a small continental breakfast buffet. To be honest I do prefer a full buffet breakfast only but this is normally not the case in the USA and Canada, so no complaint there. In the evening the restaurant serves great fusion food. The bar of the hotel is called the PROOF Vodka Bar with great indoor seating and a huge patio to relax if weather is nice. They have so many vodka’s you won’t be able to taste them all, even during a week stay. Ok maybe you can, but will you remember? I perfect bar I enjoyed both evenings even though I had to work a bit there.
Conclusion
I enjoyed my stay a lot in this upscale boutique luxury hotel. After my stay I fully agree that they won the price of best patio in Toronto and are nominated for best luxury hotel in 2015. If you need an upscale hotel in the fashionable Yorkville neighborhood I can recommend you the Intercontinental Yorkville Hotel. It is in walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and bars but also the major places of interest just across the street. I hope you will enjoy their service as I did!
