Oceania’s boundaries are unlike the other continents defined by arbitrary lines in the Pacific Ocean. This Oceania travel guide covers it all. The continents largest landmass is Australia followed by New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. All other countries are small island nations grouped in the Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia clusters. Australia and New Zealand receive the most travelers. They are perfect destinations for a camper trip as most places of interest are in nature although several big cities are great destinations too.
Melanesia’s culture is closely related to Papua New Guinea. Micronesia consists of the smallest less visited islands north of the equator. There are several remote islands only accessible by ship which have unique tribal culture. Polynesia are the islands in the eastern part of the Pacific and officially also New Zealand is in Polynesia. All islands, but specific those in Polynesia, are known for their stunning white beaches with waiving palm trees.
Oceania is a diverse continent with native tribal culture, pristine beaches, top snorkeling & diving spots, and stunning volcano’s. For Europeans and Americans most places are remote and difficult to reach. As I’m from Europe I try to visit the island nations in the most efficient way which I do mainly from South East Asia.
