#TBT [ThrowBackThursday] week 22 of 2015. This week, something I remember from my visit to Ireland, 1 of the 52 countries I visited prior to 2015.
An Ireland road trip after an accident
Back in 2006 my wife had a serious accident. A car hit her when she was on her bike. She had to recover in a clinic for a year and even after that at home. These were not easy times and it took some years to recover to a point which is “OK”. In 2006 the kids were just 1 and 4 years and it was till 2010 we decided a trip without kids was needed to leave the difficult times behind. We choose Ireland, and we got lucky, only sunshine and no drizzle at all!
Ok, we did have a bit of drizzle but not much. An Ireland road trip has never been high on my priority list but my wife did have it on her list. This was the perfect time to make this Ireland road trip and I not regret it. It is a beautiful country and a perfect place to make a road trip. We drove around the country but did not visit the capital Dublin (read here). We will visit the capital in a city trip later.
Now, almost 9 years after the accident, we travel A LOT again. The recovery has not been 100% but we manage. This trip might have been one of the more special trips in the past 6 years. A trip which will stay in memory forever!
