#TBT [ThrowBackThursday] week 40 of 2015. This week, something I remember from my visit to Jordan, 1 of the 52 countries I visited prior to 2015.
Jordan was the last new country prior to 2015. I visited it during the Christmas holidays of 2014 and it amazed me in every single aspect. The culture, the nature, the food and the friendly people; everything was good. I travelled Jordan by rental car for two weeks together with my wife and two kids (then 9 and 12 years). People who say Jordan is not safe or that the roads are not good are bull-shitting. It’s the contrary and perfect for a road trip by yourself.
Jordan is amazing!
Culture: Jordan’s culture goes back centuries and this you can see everywhere. Petra, city of stone, is probably the most famous place in all of Jordan but there is so much more. Centuries of civilizations can be seen there.
Nature: From floating in the Dead Sea to swimming or diving in the red sea, all can be done in Jordan. Do not forget the awesome mars landscape at Wadi Rum or the deserts in the east.
Food: I love the Middle Eastern food. It’s so tasty and fresh. I was most surprised by the Carakale brewery. I did not know that Jordan, as a Muslim country, had a brewery!
People: 100% friendly I can guarantee. Everywhere we came we were welcomed with open arms. Even the “touts” at Petra where not really annoying even with the problems in the tourism industry in Jordan. Everyone was helpful, friendly and always wanting to assist us wherever we needed it.
This is what I remember from Jordan, just positive!
