Crowne Plaza Yas Island is, as the name says, located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. It’s conveniently located just 10 minutes from the airport and that’s why I stayed with my family. We had a very early flight the day after our Abu Dhabi desert safari back home. On the day of arrival we also stayed on night as we arrived late. In the past I had already stayed twice by myself too. Let me show you around the hotel which is also perfect for a longer stay.
The hotel
As said the Crowne Plaza Yas Island is conveniently located near Abu Dhabi international airport. I have stayed several times already between flights. This time I stayed twice with my family: after a later arrival and before an early departure. Downtown Abu Dhabi is a 30-minute drive and the Grand Mosque about 15 minutes. The Yas Circuit, water park and Ferrari World are just around the corner. Crowne Plaza Yas Island is a modern hotel with a spacious lobby and a total of 18 floors. The common places are decorated with marbles giving it a luxurious feeling. My room was located on the 14th floor; let’s have a look.
The rooms at Crowne Plaza Yas Island
When I arrived at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island I received an upgrade due to the fact I’m member of the IHG Rewards Club. Not a member? Sign up now! The rooms are spacious and modern with flat screen TV and well stocked minibar. They have a large bathroom with bath separated by a glass wall from the bedroom. This gives the room a more spacious feeling which I like. Large comfortable beds with crisp sheets and a good pillow are my favorite and those at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island are one of the better hotel beds I’ve slept in. A pleasant room which I’m sure to see again during a next visit or stopover in Abu Dhabi.
Facilities at Crowne Plaza Yas Island
The Crowne Plaza Yas Island has an extensive gym including a squash court in the basement. Just next to it you’ll find the SPA. The pool of the Crowne Plaza Yas Island has a beautiful layout with lots of space including areas a bit away from the pool in the green for privacy. These facilities at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island will keep you busy if you’re not out of the hotel. I always love to cool down in the pool in the heat of the Emirates.
Dining & Drinking at Crowne Plaza Yas Island
At the Crowne Plaza Yas Island you can have a coffee at the lobby bar or a nice cold cocktail at the pool. Barouk restaurant on the first floor serves delicious local dishes. The all-day dining restaurant at the ground floor serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I never take lunch and didn’t have the time to have dinner either this time. The first night I arrived late evening and the during second stay I had dinner while on an Abu Dhabi desert safari. For breakfast, I added club lounge to my stay which includes breakfast in either the lounge or at the regular breakfast buffet. This was cheaper as adding only breakfast due to my loyalty status with IHG Rewards Club. The choice at breakfast was very large and various hot dishes cooked on order. Just next to the Crowne Plaza Yas Island is a Belgian cafe; I must try it next time to see what kind of beers they have.
Conclusion
If you visit Abu Dhabi I recommend staying at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island. It’s convenient for either a stopover or a longer stay. It’s my regular hotel if I have just 6-8 hours in Abu Dhabi to quickly catch some sleep. It’s close to all places of interest and has a lot quality facilities and dining options. I always enjoy staying at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island and I’m sure you will too.
