Ho Chi Min City or also called Saigon was the starting point and end point of a two-week Vietnam summer holiday with my wife and kids. On the return we had a two night stay at the Hotel Des Arts Saigon. This hotel is member of Accor Hotels and the M Gallery by Sofitel brand. These hotels are all different and have a distinct atmosphere. It has the highest rooftop bar and pool in Saigon so I simply had to try it. It was a pleasant stay and I’ll show you around but first let’s start with a video impression.
The hotel
The Hotel des Arts Saigon is located in central Ho Chi Min City just two blocks from the reunification palace. A 30-minute taxi ride brings you to the airport. This central location makes it the perfect spot from where to explore Saigon on foot. The building is a slim but tall tower and opened its doors just a year ago. Large wooden doors lead to the lobby where the friendly staff welcomed me. The lobby is spacious and full of light with on the right the reception and on the left the bar and a sitting area. In the lobby I directly noticed the pieces of arts which come from the owners’ personal collection. The name Hotel des Arts Saigon is justified; it’s a piece of art. The hotel belongs to the MGallery brand by Sofitel. Check-in was very straightforward and quick so that I was in my room in no time. Let’s have a look at the rest of the hotel.

The rooms at Hotel Des Arts Saigon
The rooms at the Hotel Des Arts Saigon are a piece of art itself. The TV is framed in a golden frame and it displayed my daughter’s name as the main guest 🙂 She was happy. I booked two connecting rooms one with a king bed for me and my wife and a twin double for the kids. The beds are very comfortable with crisp fresh sheets. There is a small sitting area and working desk. The bathroom is half-open and integrated into the room. A curtain, the sink and mirror make up the “wall”. I had also a sneak peek in a corner suite which has a huge separate bathroom with free-standing bath. The kids are not quickly impressed as they visited many luxury hotels but they were impressed by the beauty of the rooms at Hotel Des Arts Saigon. The two nights I spend here with my family were really comfortable and we all felt at home.
Facilities at Hotel Des Arts Saigon
One of the reasons I choose to stay at the Hotel des Arts Saigon, MGallery by Sofitel, was because they have an awesome rooftop pool. With awesome I mean really awesome with a view from the infinity pool on the independence palace. The rooftop pool and bar give day and night a beautiful panoramic view over Ho Chi Min City. I spend each day some time there and the kids loved the night view too.

Hotel des Arts Saigon has a professional SPA and gym. The gym has plenty of variety in equipment but I’m not a gym person so I didn’t use it. I do love a massage and I did use the SPA. The staff is professional and knows what they do with the quality products they use. I was welcomed with a delicious cup of tea before I was escorted to the treatment room. The 90-minute treatment was very relaxing. It was the last evening of the 2 weeks Vietnam trip so this was a great to fully unwind and arrive relaxed at home. The Hotel des Arts Saigon would be my choice again if I need a SPA treatment in Ho Chi Min City.
Dining & Drinking at Hotel Des Arts Saigon
The Hotel des Arts Saigon has one restaurant and three bars. Breakfast is served at the all-day dining restaurant and has a huge variety of dishes. Fresh fruits and juices, pastries cold cuts and much more. In Asia I always start my day with a spicy noodle soup unlike in the rest of the world where I prefer sunny side up fried eggs. Noodles, but also eggs, are fresh prepared by the chef. The bars are located in the lobby, the top floor and on the roof top bar. All of us spend quite some time at the roof top pool and bar. One of the two evenings we had dinner at the restaurant. It was seafood day with an all you can eat buffet. I think I had three of four lobsters/crabs, a dozen or so oysters and too much other food I can’t remember. The quality is outstanding and the taste delicious. I could eat there every day!
Conclusion
If you plan a visit to Ho Chi Min City I highly recommend staying at the Hotel des Arts Saigon. This MGallery hotel by Sofitel has the most awesome rooftop bar and pool in the whole city. If that is not enough they have a great SPA and their comfortable rooms are a piece of art. The friendly staff made me feel at home throughout my stay and so did my family. I’m sure you will enjoy a stay there too.
