After my visit to Hoi An I visited Hue, the imperial city, with my family. In Hue the Indochine Palace Hotel was my home for two nights during my 2 week Vietnam road trip. I demand a lot from hotels and the Indochine Palace Hotel looked very promising when searching for hotels. They offer an Indochine touch of luxury. In this hotel review I show you around this property. One thing I can say upfront: my family and I enjoyed the luxury! Join me on a journey through Indochine luxury!
The hotel
The Indochine Palace Hotel is a 17 story building and opened its doors just a few years ago. It’s currently the tallest building in Hue and I do suggest going to the top floor for a nice view. It’s build in a U-shape with the pool located in the middle. The drive way gives entrance to the spacious lobby decorated with marbles. I like personal service and the staff at the Indochine Palace exactly offers that. Check-in was at the second floor. Don’t worry the staff takes care of your luggage. Four elevators take you up; with a glass wall giving a nice view on the pool. The architecture resembles a bit the colonial style when the French were in Vietnam. The location is perfect with just a few minutes to the Imperial city of Hue and about half an hour to the airport. Around the hotel is a nice garden to relax. The friendly staff but also the feeling I had with the decor made my stay very pleasant.

The rooms at Indochine Palace
My room was located on the 8th floor with and had a pool view. The room has a small balcony but for me personally Vietnam was way too hot to even consider opening the door. I had a deluxe room. The deluxe rooms at the Indochine Palace Hotel are large for their type. They are equipped with a well-stocked minibar and a nice flat screen TV. Somewhere I have to prepare my reviews so I need a good desk and a small sitting area. The room had those and enough electricity plugs to charge all my equipment. If you follow me a bit longer you might know my back is not the best and a good bed helps. The beds at the Indochine Palace are very comfortable. Asian flower decorations with pastel colors make the room a pleasant place. The rooms at the Indochine Palace Hue have an open bathroom. A screen can be closed for privacy. This design makes the rooms much more spacious. I didn’t spend that much time in the room but I felt at home when I was. Everything was there.
Facilities at Indochine Palace
The Indochine Palace Hue has a variety of facilities including several business facilities I didn’t use. I was on a leisure only trip. The pool is located between the three wings of the U-shaped building. I found it to resemble a bit the old Roman bath houses. This made it romantic. It’s large pool to actually do some swimming and I didn’t get any overcrowded feeling. Just next to the pool is the fully equipped gym and SPA.

One evening I got myself pampered at the SPA. Their staff is friendly and professional. I loved my 90 minute aromatic Swedish massage. I felt rejuvenated after. The Indochine Palace offers a free shuttle to Hue city center. For advice and car rental the concierge knows it all. He gave me some good tips to get more out of my journey. Altogether I didn’t get bored at the Indochine Palace Hue Hotel. On the contrary; I was relaxed and happy which made my departure a hard one.
Dining & Drinking at Indochine Palace
At the Indochine Palace Hotel Hue breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at the all-day dining restaurant. The breakfast has a wide choice of Western and Asian dishes. I loved the Pho, Vietnam’s national dish, and “my” fried eggs sunny side up. I didn’t have lunch there but did try dinner. The spring rolls and sugarcane crab sticks are highly recommended. They are delicious. Their wine selection is very good for an Asian hotel but after a sweaty day I just needed to cool down with a local beer. Next to the restaurant is the bar serving delicious cocktails. For a coffee, which is very good in Vietnam, I recommend to have one in the lobby bar or in the garden. Of course the staff can serve everything also in the room and at the pool. The quality of the food at Indochine Palace Hue is very good. I recommend also having dinner there and not just breakfast.
Conclusion
If you are visiting Hue in Central Vietnam on a two week Vietnam itinerary I highly recommend staying at the Indochine Palace Hotel Hue. It’s a luxury hotel offering perfect service with a smile. The pool is large and the SPA professional. Its location in the center of Hue makes it a good base for day trips in and around Hue. I recommend going to the citadel for a day and making another day tour to the various royal tombs around Hue. The rooms are comfortable and will give you a good sleep. I left relaxed with positive feelings and I would stay again if I visit Hue. I’m sure you will enjoy the Indochine Palace Hue too.
